Need ideas to integrate civics education along with community resources?
Need additional information about English Literacy and Civic Education? Come to this workshop for tutors and teachers that will stress contextualized learning in which language and literacy are developed through topics that are relevant in the lives of the adult learner. This session will highlight some of the rights and responsibilities adult learners should know to become active and informed citizens. This will be a hands-on presentation and handouts will be provided.
About the Presenter:
Claire Valier is a retired ESOL Coordinator in Palm Beach County, Florida. She has worked with adult education for over 25 years as an instructor, team leader, testing chair and program coordinator. She has received the State’s Master Teacher Award, Palm Beach County’s Teacher of the Year Award and the ACE State of Florida Teacher of the Year Award. She has served on the State of Florida’s Task ESOL Force and Standing Committees, is a well-known presenter for the State of Florida as well as providing staff training in numerous other states. She is a certified National CASAS Trainer, a consultant for several ESOL publishers and co-authored the book “Counseling Activities for Life Skills and Career Development.”
