Effective Instruction for all Adult Education Students including those with Learning Disabilities and Other Special Learning Needs: Definitions – Issues – Solutions
November 30, 2021 @ 9:00 am - 1:00 pm
Individuals with diagnosed and undiagnosed learning disabilities (LD) and other special learning needs are often found in relatively large numbers in Adult Basic Education (ABE) classes. In this session participants will become aware of and understand the definitions and characteristics of these individuals, understand some of the issues they face, and learn about some effective instructional techniques and strategies in support of these individuals. In addition, participants will learn about metacognitive skills and their importance in educational environments and careers. They will also be introduced to all the soft skills needed in post-secondary education and workplace settings. Finally they will have a better understanding of the transition needs of their students from adult education to postsecondary education and/or the world of work.
